Guitar Intervals Gauge (in)Tension (lbs)
These gauges represent a 'medium' set. You can safely string ± 0.002" to achieve either a light or heavy gauge set. ±0.001" is the recommended range for the highest course.
The pitch for each string can be safely changed to within the interval of whole step in either direction while maintining reasonably close tension.
If more than two strings are raised without corresponding lowering on other courses, it is recommended that you lower the gauge if raising pitch, and vice-versa.
Maintaining tension greater than standard can result in damage to the instrument, and tuning significantly below standard tension may result in subpar tone.
